OMAHA, Neb.—College hockey fans will get more details Wednesday about the new conference six of the top programs are planning to form in 2013-14.
The schools planning the new conference have scheduled a midday news conference in Colorado Springs on Wednesday.
Five of the schools involved are currently members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. They are Colorado College, Denver, reigning NCAA champion Minnesota Duluth, Nebraska-Omaha and North Dakota.
The sixth school is current Central Collegiate Hockey Association member Miami of Ohio.
The new hockey league is likely to trigger a shake-up in the other college hockey conferences. After the new league is formed, the WCHA will be left with five teams and the CCHA will have seven teams.
