One woman was transported to the hospital and several others suffered minor injuries after a woman drove her Lincoln Continental through a plate-glass window into the crowded lobby of the U.S. Post Office’s Valmont Station in Boulder this morning.
A woman in her 80s mistook the gas pedal for the brake as she was parking on the south end of the post office, said Boulder police Sgt. Jim MacPherson. She drove through the window into an area of the post office where many customers were waiting.
The car came to a stop just short of the counter.
This is the third similar incident in recent years, MacPherson said, but the other drivers were parking on the north end of the building and there were no injuries.
“This is a much worse place for this to happen,” MacPherson said.
One woman was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, MacPherson said. The other victims were treated on the scene for minor injuries.
