DENVER—Colorado Attorney General John Suthers says a federal court has issued a preliminary injunction barring the Dalbey Education Institute from airing infomercials claiming consumers can get rich quick though the sale of promissory notes.
Suthers’ office and the Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit in May alleging the Westminister-based institute’s infomercials were misleading. An FTC survey found less than 3 percent of consumers who paid $500 or more for the institute’s products ever sold a promissory note.
This week a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction that orders that until the lawsuit is resolved, the institute must disclose in its advertising that most of its customers will earn little or no money.
The institute was formerly known as American’s Note Network.
