The Garfield County Sheriff’s Department this evening released the names of two oil-field workers killed when their pickup truck ran off the road and over an embankment southeast of Parachute this morning.
Andrew Marquez and Travis Oropeza, both 24-year-olds from Grand Junction, were Monument Well Service employees in a Monument Well Service vehicle on their way to a work site in Garfield County. They were last seen about 5 a.m.
Their hometowns were not released.
The 2011 GMC pickup was found at about 11 a.m. in a deep ravine off Garfield County Road 204 at Garfield County Road 492, according to the state patrol.
“Our thoughts go out to these families at this time,” the company stated in its release.
This story has been corrected in this online archive. Originally, due to an incorrect statement, the company Marquez and Oropeza were working for was misstated.
