DENVER—State officials have been notified that concentrated uranium is piling up at Cotter Corp.’s defunct mine west of Denver.
The company says it is following a court order to pump out and treat uranium-tainted water at its defunct Schwartzwalder Mine in Jefferson County.
According to the Denver Post ( ), state environmental regulators were notified last month of the mounting uranium, but they are not sure whether the uranium can be sold or whether there are security concerns.
