PUEBLO, Colo.—The New Elk Coal Mine west of Trinidad says it plans to add workers.
The Pueblo Chieftain reports () the mine owned by Canada-based Cline Mining Corp. plans to hire up to 150 more workers over the next 18 months.
General manager Ron Thompson says the mine already employs 320 people, up from fewer than 100 around the time it opened in early 2011.
Acting Trinidad City Manager Jerod Beatty says the mine has been an economic driver for Las Animas County and the city of Trinidad.
