Sophomore attacker Jenn Etzel scored four goals to lead the University of Denver women’s lacrosse team (8-1) to a 12-10 victory over Drexel (7-3) at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium on Friday.

Junior attacker Kara Secora (Kent Denver) added a hat trick and an assist for the Pioneers, who have won eight straight after dropping the season opener. Senior midfielder Melissa Maier chipped in two goals and an assist.

• Brooke Wineland’s hat trick wasn’t enough for the Fort Lewis women’s team (4-3) in a 14-11 loss to Grand Valley State (5-4) at the Regis Match Pitch in Denver.

CSU-Pueblo, Colorado Christian split. Shortstop Samantha Rios went 2-for-5 with four RBIs to lead the CSU-Pueblo softball team to a 13-10 win over host Colorado Christian in the second game of a doubleheader.

Genevieve Reyna pitched a complete game and had two RBIs for Christian in a 6-5 win in the opener.

• Bob Terry’s single scored Dave Holland in the bottom of the 12th to give the Regis baseball team a 9-8 win over Metro State.

• J.T. Greenhood hit a three-run home run to extend his hitting streak to 15 games in CSU-Pueblo’s 15-9 win over host Nebraska-Kearney.

Mammoth activates Shewchuk. The Colorado Mammoth activated forward Jamie Shewchuk, who was on the injured list with a hand injury when he was acquired in a trade with Minnesota last week. The team had to move transition player Jed Prossner to the holdout list because of work commitments prior to today’s game vs. the host Rochester Knighhawks.

Boulder cyclist suspended. The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency suspended cyclist Todd Robertson, 49, of Boulder for 15 months after he tested positive for a banned oxygen-enhancing peptide hormone in a sample collected in February 2011.
