The Home Builders Association of Metro Denver on Thursday said it is holding job fairs Friday and Saturday.
The group said demand for new home construction is improving, leading to a need for more qualified workers.
“There is a critical need for skilled labor so we’re putting our industry back to work,” said Jeff Whiton, chief executive of the association.
Whiton said 18 builders, suppliers and contractors have reserved tables for the fair, and more companies are expected.
So far, the businesses have indicated they have 50 to 70 current job opportunities. Major home builders who plan to attend the fair include: Ryland Homes, Century Communities, Meritage Homes, DR Horton, and KB Home
Among industry suppliers at the event will be Alpine Lumber, Overhead Garage Door, MK Plumbing, and Guys Flooring .
“This is one of the many ways in which we are aggressively promoting recovery and re-growth of our industry,” said Whiton.
So far, more than 260 applicants have already applied to the job fair.
The job fair will be held at the HBA headquarters, 9033 E. Easter Place, Suite 200 in Centennial .
The fair will run from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Candidates being interviewed on Friday are being sought for administrative to managerial positions and sales to construction management positions.
Candidates being sought Saturday range from entry level positions to skilled craftsmen such as tile and hardwood setters, master plumbers and carpenters.
