BOULDER, Colo.—The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says the first 11 months of this year were the warmest on record for the mainland United States since 1934.

Scientists say the average temperature for the United States is about 57 degrees Fahrenheit, more than 3 degrees above the 20th century average.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera ( ), scientists don’t know if the U.S. will break the record of about 2 degrees above average recorded in 1934 because the year is not over yet.
