ALAMOSA, Colo.—The Alamosa City Council has unanimously rejected a proposal that would have banned panhandling.

Instead, the council is asking city staffers to modify the ordinance to strike a balance between the right to ask for assistance and protecting residents.

According to the Alamosa Valley Courier ( ), Police Chief Craig Dodd says panhandlers are interfering with pedestrians and traffic.
