COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Another company is laying off plans to drill for oil in El Paso County.
The Gazette reports ( ) Hilcorp Energy Co. has found test results from an exploratory well to be disappointing. Dale Myers, who owns the land on which Hilcorp was drilling, says the company told him the oil was immature, and there wasn’t enough to produce.
Hilcorp representatives didn’t return phone calls from the newspaper Thursday. However the county’s licensed government designee to the oil and gas industry, Diana May, told the newspaper that Hilcorp won’t be proceeding with any drilling on their state permits.
Earlier this year, Ultra Petroleum Corp. officials said they were disappointed with results from test wells in eastern El Paso County and had no immediate plans to drill for oil and natural gas.
