Two residents escaped a house fire in northeast Denver on Thursday morning, but the structure sustained heavy damage.

The fire broke out about 3:43 a.m. at 14801 E. Randolph Place, said Mark Watson, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 30 minutes.

The American Red Cross is assisting residents of the brick, single-family home, which is currently uninhabitable, Watson said.

Fire investigators have determined the fire was caused by a candle and it has been ruled accidental.
