LONGMONT, Colo.—Investigators are searching for an arsonist who set a fire that destroyed a Longmont mortuary.
Longmont police said Thursday they had ruled out accidental causes in the fire that burned the Howe Mortuary Tuesday.
Investigators say the fire started in a dumpster behind the building. Police are reviewing surveillance video.
Investigators are also looking for connections between the Howe Mortuary fire and a fire that started behind The (Longmont) Times-Call newspaper building Wednesday afternoon. In that case, someone stuffed a rolled-up shirt into a newspaper box and set it ablaze.
The Boulder County Coroner said that seven bodies had been recovered from the mortuary. All the bodies have been identified, but names are not being released.
