DENVER—A man convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl in Denver has been sentenced to at least 24 years in prison.
KMGH-TV in Denver reports () a judge sentenced Bret Luckett Thompson on Thursday to 18 years in prison for second-degree kidnapping, plus at least six years for sexual assault. A parole board would determine when he could be released.
The girl was playing with a friend in an alley in 2011 when a man in a van abducted her.
The girl testified at trial that she made her abductor “pinky promise” that he wouldn’t hurt her, but it didn’t stop him from sexually assaulting her before later releasing her.
Thompson’s lawyer had argued Thompson suffered from what is sometimes described as multiple personality disorder.
