As one of the leading arts and crafts events in the region, visitors have the opportunity to buy all manner of art work, and handmade creations from homemade cakes and jams to individually designed jewelry or one-off paintings. Saturday-Sunday. Summer in the city starts with the People’s Fair. Presented annually by the Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods organization, the fair is a two-day salute to Denver’s diversity and a fundraiser for local nonprofit groups. Civic Center will be filled with arts-and-crafts vendors, nonprofit booths and tasty treats, plus five stages of live entertainment. A kids-and-family zone offers low-cost fun for youngsters like carnival rides, a rock-climbing wall and free craft projects. New this year is the Health and Wellness Area, featuring health screenings, information and fitness and cooking demonstrations. 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. Civic Center, Broadway and Colfax Avenue. Admission is free.
