• A University of Colorado at Boulder professor has been awarded a three-year, $3.6 million grant from the Energy Department’s Advanced Research Projects Agency to develop a new process to produce magnesium that can be used to make lightweight vehicle parts. Professor Alan Weimer and his research team will use the grant to develop a new gasification process that uses concentrated solar power to produce magnesium and synthesis gas, or syngas, a precursor for synthetic gasoline.

• Denver-based StickyDocs has launched its new mobile publishing platform for the corporate-communications industry as content for mobile devices.

D’Amore Interiors has relocated from Wheat Ridge to 475 S. Broadway in the design district.

• Longmont-based Madhava Natural Sweeteners has introduced a new organic pancake syrup and organic coffee syrup. Both are available in three flavors.

Pinkard Construction Co. has been selected as construction manager/general contractor for the new $10.8 million Eastern Star Masonic Retirement Community at Quebec Street and East Harvard Avenue in Denver.

• The West Chamber – Serving Jefferson County has launched a membership drive with a goal of adding another 67 members to its roster.

Metropolitan Denver Dental Society recently opened the Mountain West Dental Institute at 925 Lincoln St. in the Beauvallon building.

• The Innovation Center of the Rockies has received a national award of excellence from the State Science & Technology Institute for its work in commercializing university research in the Rocky Mountain region. ICR also won an SSTI award of excellence in the commercializing research category.
