
Robbed at birth. A couple left their home in the 14700 block of East Harvard Avenue in a hurry after the woman went into labor. They returned Nov. 4 to find several things out of place. A laptop and DVD player were taken, and police noted a broken fence board outside.
Trunk stomper. A woman called police Nov. 2 after someone kicked in the trunk of her car and broke one of her brake lights in the parking lot of the Motel 6 at 14031 E. Iliff Ave. A clear print of a shoe was dented into the trunk.
Work site theft. Police were called to the 25600 block of East Maplewood Place by a construction worker who was building a home on that site Nov. 1. The worker said the motor to the furnace that he just installed had been stolen.
Hand is quicker than the eye. The clerk at the Valero at 2121 S. Chambers Road called police to the store after two men distracted him and stole $40 from the counter on Oct. 28. The clerk said he was cleaning up when a man asked him about a job. Another man came in and grabbed the cash while the clerk was looking for an application.
Slow reaction. Police responded to the 4100 block of South Andes Way after a man’s compressor was stolen from his open garage on Oct. 26. The man’s son looked out the window and saw two men loading the compressor into their gold Jeep. He went to tell his dad, but the thieves left right away.
Stolen plates. A man called police on Oct. 19 to report that his license plate was stolen from his car while it was parked at his house in the 14000 block of East Tuft Drive.
