4) Miley Cyrus — March 4, Pepsi Center

Like we’ve said before, Miley Cyrus’ music is hit or miss at best. So why are we adding her to our picks of best Colorado shows this week? What other chance are you going to get to see a former Disney star straddle a hot dog, or simulate oral sex with someone in a Bill Clinton mask? Sure the stuff is a raunchy attention grab, but it’s funny, it’s absurd and it’s not your primetime, vanilla, pop show. Get some friends, have a few drinks, do some stretches and prepare to enjoy a ridiculous spectacle.

3) Flash/Lights, Inner Oceans — March 6, Larimer Lounge

Indie electro-pop act Flash/Lights has been on a roll lately, announcing a number of SXSW appearances a spot on Treefort Music Festival and now a headlining show at Larimer Lounge. Thanks to danceable beats and pop friendly vocals, a Flash/Lights show tends to draw a crowd that’s expecting a good time, to let loose. When Flash/Lights plays Larimer Lounge on March 6 they’ll bring along Inner Oceans — another familiar, and welcome, face in the Denver scene lately.

2) Hall & Oates — March 3, 1stBank Center

Hall & Oates’ “You Make My Dreams” is a strong contender for the title of perfect romantic-comedy montage music. The oohs and the nearly flawless pop construction around its silky, bouncing hook are the ingredients that have helped Hall & Oates stand the test of time. It’s not just in traditional pop music that you can see Hall & Oates’ influence today, it’s also in some of the least likely places. Hip-hop and electronic music have especially taken cues from the duo, having been sampled in everyone from Girl Talk to Lil Wayne to De La Soul to UGK, Wu-Tang Clan and Kanye West. On March 3, Daryl Hall & John Oates perform at Colorado’s 1stBank Center. ($49.50-$125, 1stbankcenter.com)

1) Gardens & Villa — March 4, Larimer Lounge

Earlier this month Gardens & Villa released its sophomore album on Secretly Canadian, another mellow, groove-heavy and misty set of tracks from the Santa Barbara, Calif., act. Though this second release is anchored by some thicker synth patches, the band still maintains its relaxed Southern California vibe. “Dunes,” the indie-pop band’s first release in three years, hits its stride midway through the record with “Chrysanthemums.” This track, a midtempo ballad, focuses on the wispy mood of Gardens & Villa. The band plays at Denver’s Larimer Lounge on March 4. ($10-$14, larimerlounge.com)
