Residents of a Denver apartment building were evacuated for a short time Tuesday afternoon because of a natural gas leak.
A contractor working in the area accidentally severed a natural gas line about 2:20 p.m. at 353 Elati St., according to Xcel Energy.
Firefighters responded and cleared the building as a safety precaution, said Mark Watson, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.
The situation was brought under control in several minutes and residents were allowed to return to their homes.
