Just before closing at Park Meadows Mall Friday night, three robbers lugging sledgehammers smashed several display cases in the Ben Bridge Jewelers store, swiped several Rolex watches, then fled in a stolen SUV, police say.
The robbers, described as black men in their early to mid 20s, sprinted through the mall at around 8:45 p.m. and out through Dicks Sporting Goods store, according to Kristen Knoll, Lone Tree police spokeswoman.
Witnesses reported the suspects fleeing in a silver Jeep Liberty with Colorado license plate 793OUD, and sped away in an unknown directions.
The SUV was reported stolen a few minutes after the the robbery. The robbers were all dressed in dark clothing, Knoll wrote in a news release.
Lone Tree Police Department detectives responded to a report of a robbery at 8:45 p.m., the news release said.
“Police are currently reviewing security footage of the theft to gather additional information,” Knoll said.
