Re: “’Flat Earth’ ad is a cheap shot at fracking foes,” July 28 editorial.
We agree with the Denver Post editorial board that Colorado’s “fringe of anti-fracking activists has little interest in factual evidence or the opinions of government scientists.” That was, in fact, the point of — to shed light on the radical views behind the loudest voices against fracking in Colorado.
Most Coloradans support responsible energy development balanced with sensible regulations. But the activist leaders driving the debate are not most Coloradans — they’re groups like Frack Free Colorado and Local Control Colorado, whose leaders are connected to left-wing radicals like Occupy Wall Street and MoveOn.org and national environmental groups like Food & Water Watch.
This fringe, unlike most Coloradans, peddles junk science and scare tactics to achieve its ends.
The editors call for an “adult-level” conversation. That won’t happen until Colorado’s sensible middle rejects its radical fringe.
