A Denver mother who allegedly over a bullying dispute has been formally charged with second-degree assault, according to the district attorney’s office.

Cherry N. Robertson, 34, allegedly shot the girl, identified by witnesses at Niela Coleman, in the shoulder after the teen was involved in an altercation with Robertson’s daughter.

After shooting Coleman, , attempting to fire again, according to court records and witnesses.

“They said she was bullying, but that’s not true,” said Tia Collins, Coleman’s godmother. “(Robertson) just came out and shot her.”

The shooting happened about 8:30 p.m. on the 1100 block of Rosemary Street in east Denver.

Robertson is being held in leiu of $100,000 bond and is next scheduled to appear in court Friday.
