After speaking with President Obama by phone Wednesday, John and Diane Foley, talk to reporters outside their home in Rochester, N.H. (Jim Cole, The Associated Press)
Re: “Beheading spurs new attacks on Islamic militants,” Aug. 21 news story.
Why are the media — The Denver Post included — using the term “execution” to describe the cold-blooded murder of journalist James Foley? Execution is defined as putting to death as a legal penalty. The perpetrators should be executed, but the act itself was murder. Is this another example of giving credibility through misuse of words — as in “suicide bomber”?
