BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — One of the Democratic Party’s biggest stars is coming to Colorado to help embattled Sen. Mark Udall.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren will join Udall at get-out-the-vote events in Boulder and Englewood on Friday. The Massachusetts liberal is very popular with the Democratic party’s base, which is less likely to vote in a non-presidential election.

Udall needs as many of those voters as possible to turn out. He’s locked in a neck-and-neck race against Republican Rep. Cory Gardner. Both sides agree that Udall’s best chance of winning is to turn out as many of his voters as possible. He may have an edge because Colorado Democrats have traditionally excelled at the so-called ground game.
