Re: “Connecting, composing: students write legacy for Alzheimer’s residents,” Oct. 12 news story.

Thanks to Denver Post reporter Kevin Simpson, teacher Rachel Blue Ankney, and her Community College of Aurora students for the moving story in last Sunday’s paper.

In a paper otherwise filled with stories of war, crime, disease, corruption and other distressing news over which I have little control, this story was a motivating gem. A creative teacher, courageous students, and committed caregivers all collaborate to create meaning for elders and their families who love them. Here’s hoping the teacher and students gain exponentially as well.

The world seems much kinder and more hopeful after reading this story. Thank you for your efforts, and for inspiring me to think of creative ways I can make a difference, too.

Amy Miller, Denver
