BROOMFIELD — The Colorado Oil & Gas Association filed a complaint Monday seeking to invalidate Broomfield’s five-year ban on hydraulic fracturing, narrowly approved by voters last year.
In three prior decisions this year, Colorado district courts struck down voter-approved fracking bans in Longmont, Lafayette and Fort Collins.
“A ban on oil and gas development is clearly a violation of state law regulating oil and gas,” COGA president Tisha Schuller wrote in a news release.
“Colorado has among the most stringent and well-constructed oil and gas regulations in the nation, and we have a court system that respects the rule of law and rights granted through contractual agreements,” Schuller said.
