After 10 years as the head football coach at Montrose, Todd Casebier will be heading to take the reins at Fruita Momument.
“The job came open and there’s some people I’m comfortable with down there when I was at Palisade,” Casebier said. “… I’m ready for a new challenge — Montrose has been great.”
In 10 years at Montrose, Casebier compiled a 86-30 record, leading the Indians to the 4A state championship game in 2013. Montrose finished with a 10-2 record this year before falling to Broomfield in the state quarterfinal.
Prior to that, he spent seven years as the head coach of Palisade.
Fruita Monument finished 1-9 in Class 5A last season, and the Wildcats have not had a winning season since 2004. As part of the Continental North, the Western Slope-located Wildcats will be playing many of their league games in the Denver metro area.
“If you’re a good team, you can make it work,” Casebier said. “It’s a lot of work to do.”
