Getting your player ready...

Nuggets shooting guard Randy Foye isn’t putting a timetable on his return from injury. He only says he’s slowly improving and hopes to get back as soon as he can.

“At first, they said three weeks,” Foye said. “But when they said that, it was more three weeks of just not doing anything, just rehabbing and getting stronger. Now my whole thing is getting these muscles around the area stronger, and then after that I guess is conditioning, and then after conditioning, (returning), hopefully, with no setbacks.”

Foye has missed 12 consecutive games, being out of the lineup since Nov. 25 with a small tear in his right quadriceps. He still is not to the stage of getting on the court to run, much less doing basketball-specific work.

And because of that, Foye is reluctant to put a date on his return. However, at his current pace, it’s not out of the question to believe it might be after the new year before he is back to help anchor a Nuggets second unit that needs him.

“I don’t want to put any days on it,” Foye said, “because I don’t want to put anything on it, and then (media say), ‘You said you were going to be back.’ So I’m not going to put anything on it. I’m just working my tail off every single day, doing whatever I need to do that’s going to help me get back out there with my guys.”

Harris searches for shot. Rookie guard Gary Harris has had a rough shooting stretch after starting with a bang in his first NBA game at Indiana. Before Wednesday, Harris was shooting just 25 percent from the field and 25 percent from 3-point range.

After his 6-of-10 performance against the Pacers on Nov. 14, Harris had made just 8-of-46 shots (17.4 percent) going into Wednesday.

“I think it’s typical of what you see in young players,” Nuggets coach Brian Shaw said. “Inconsistent play. I think he gets sped up and doing things too fast, and then he gets himself in trouble out there on the floor. He just needs to slow down and let the game come to him.”
