Peyton Manning, who injured his thigh in the win over the Chargers, returned to practice on Friday, looking sharp. (Tim Rasmussen, The Denver Post)
Peyton Manning is not ageless. He gets sick. His body hurts. His thigh aches. He practiced on a limited basis Thursday, sending shudders through fans and fantasy league owners. It’s not uncommon for him to receive lighter reps earlier in the week, and that was before he suffered a leg injury against the San Diego Chargers.
Alas, Manning practiced fully on Friday. In open viewing period, he made several strong throws, including on routes to tight end Julius Thomas, who looks closer to 100 percent than at any time since hurting his left ankle against the St. Louis Rams.
Running back Juwan Thompson (knee, hip), a spectator on Thursday, returned to practice. He serves as C.J. Anderson’s top backup, though Jeremy Stewart received a few snaps last Sunday. Tackle Paul Cornick (turf toe) and linebacker Brandon Marshall (sprained foot) did not work out. It would be a surprise if either played on Monday at Cincinnati.
