1 Security guard bitten during shoplifting attempt. On Jan. 26, Edgewater police officers responded to a report of a shoplifting in progress at Target, 1985 Sheridan Blvd. The suspects were fighting with store security personnel, and a vehicle later determined to be associated with the suspects fled from the scene. A male suspect continued to fight with security and the officers until he was restrained and arrested. A security officer sustained a minor injury from being bitten on the arm by the suspect. The two suspects attempted to shoplift almost $1,800 worth of electronic equipment.
2 Man can’t stay away from jail. The same day he was released from jail, a man was arrested by Lakewood police Jan. 22 for driving a stolen vehicle near Wadsworth Boulevard and West 10th Avenue. The man said he bought the car from a mechanic shop but did not provide specifics. His passenger was also arrested, for active warrants.
3 Man bites fiancée on face. On Jan. 26, Lakewood police responded to the 2500 block of Quay Street after a woman was bitten on the face by her fiancé. The woman said her fiance had been drunk and was yelling about the “sovereign nation and government stuff” before assaulting her while she was holding their infant son. The man was aggressive toward the officers, resisted arrest and struck an officer above his right eye with his elbow.
4 Honda stolen in Edgewater. Sometime between 8 p.m. Jan. 26 and 7:20 a.m. Jan. 27, a 1992 gray Honda Accord was stolen from a parking lot in the 2800 block of Kendall Street in Edgewater.
