Evergreen won its second consecutive Class 4A girls swimming and diving state championship Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton.

The Cougars from Jefferson County rolled to a team total of 368 points. They cruised past runner-up Cheyenne Mountain of Colorado Springs, which compiled 276. Next were Valor Christian (193.5) and Thompson Valley (176).

Lindsay Morrow was Evergreen’s star. She won the 200-yard individual medley, topping the field in 2:03.42; the 100 backstroke in 54.56; and anchored the 400 freestyle relay team that finished first in 3:29.29.

Teammate Kate McDonald won the 500 freestyle in 5:03.47.

Thompson Valley’s Eryn Eddy was a double winner, taking the 100 and 200 freestyles, each in All-America-time efforts.
