A man pleaded guilty Thursday to sexual exploitation of a child for having more than 20 images of child pornography.

Terence Kiernan, 65, is set to be sentenced May 7 in the case, according to the 17th Judicial District attorney’s office.

Court documents say Broomfield police found the child pornography images on Kiernan’s work and personal computers, the office said. Images also were found on his other electronic devices, authorities say.

Kiernan was the head of FISH Inc., which provides food, housing and other assistance to Broomfield residents.

He was asked to resign after being arrested.

Kiernan told police he used computers at the nonprofit to download some of the pornography to keep it hidden from his wife, according to an arrest affidavit reviewed by The Broomfield Enterprise.

The newspaper reported that Kiernan told investigators he had been in sex addiction treatment for several years but had recently “slipped” and began downloading child pornography at work.

Kiernan faces two to six years in prison at sentencing, although a probation sentence is possible.
