UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub is vicious in the ring but admitted there’s a soft side to him.

On his Fox Sports podcast “” with Bryan Callen, the former Overland High and Colorado Buffaloes football star talked about on Saturday at the Tim Tebow Foundation Celebrity Gala and Golf Classic.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in there,” Schaub said.

He said during the charity banquet, Tebow’s foundation shared stories about how it has helped children both in the U.S. and abroad.

Born in the Philippines, Tebow has always “tried to give back there,” Schaub said. “They build hospitals there, they raise money and build hospitals.

“They showed some girl who fell, broke her leg and it got infected. She couldn’t move. She was there all day, couldn’t move. They opened up this hospital and gave her surgery and she showed up to the event. Standing ovation.”

Schaub also shared a tale of Tebow’s “Timmy Playroom,” a project that helps provide a positive environment to younger hospital patients. He said Tebow told him about one mother who thanked him for putting on a prom for the children.

” ‘My daughter will never get married, will never have kids, will never live a regular life,’ ” Schaub said Tebow recalled. ” ‘But tonight what you did, she felt like a princess and it’s the first time I’ve seen her smile.’ “

Schaub said he said to himself, “Do not get tears on this new suit, man.”

Listen to the full episode below. Schaub begins talking about the event at 16:20.
