Getting your player ready...

Interview with DJ Santistevan and David Bascio, owners

Q: How did you get involved in this business?

A: I had wanted to get into this business for the past five years. My body was telling me I could no longer continue with my residential remodel business of nearly 20 years. I’ve always had a calming affect on people, so I thought that might be a trait that could be used in the bar/hospitality business. My nephew, David, was ready for a career change, we discussed him becoming a 50/50 partner and the rest is history. We work well with each other as we both bring different traits and ideas to our customers. We are only four months old, and as a new business continue to grow and learn daily. We are excited for the future of Ds’ Tavern.

Q: What distinguishes you from other businesses in your category?

A: I would have to say the staff we have assembled and the aspect of bringing live weekly entertainment to the Littleton area. There is a tremendous amount of talented musicians in the greater Denver area and we have committed to giving them a stage/venue to share their talents with all. The overwhelming support Littleton has shown us has been astonishing, and now the word is out that Ds’ Tavern is the new place to be with something different every night of the week. Our staff are focused on making every patron’s experience one to remember, and as we all know, the best form of advertising is word of mouth.

Q: What do you like best about your line of work?

A: We like the idea of providing a clean, safe environment for our customers to relax and unwind. Meeting new people every day has also been a privilege; we no longer think of them as customers, but as friends.

Q: What is your business’ biggest challenge?

A: Keeping up with change. No business can ever become complacent. Once you do, you no longer have anything to offer. The general public loves new and exciting things, so we are committed to offering those to our guests. Social media is huge nowadays, so you must offer something for your guests to tweet, Snapchat and post about while they are at your establishment.

Q: Something people might be surprised to learn about you or your business:

A: We are a start-up business with plans of future locations. Ds’ Tavern Littleton is the model for future locations throughout the greater metro Denver area.
