Re: “You want hypotheticals about Iraq? Here’s one,” May 22 Charles Krauthammer column.
Charles Krauthammer, renowned Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, is many things. One thing he’s not is a veteran.
As a veteran, I’m angry when anyone who has never walked a mile in my combat boots even suggests President Obama should not have withdrawn troops in Iraq. Not being a veteran yourself means you’re not qualified to even suggest American men and women be placed in harm’s way. Neither are most of the members of Congress, for that matter (only 80 of 535 voting members are veterans).
My suggestion henceforth is that Krauthammer and those unqualified members of Congress be required to pick a rifle and serve on the front lines anytime they, in their armchair wisdom, decide we should commit troops to a hostile area. Put up or shut up.
