A man of sexually assaulting a woman more than 20 years ago in a case that had gone cold until last June was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison.
Donald R. Shores, 57, was found guilty of first-degree sexual assault in the Sept. 6, 1994, rape of a 67-year-old woman in the 2000 block of Colorado Boulevard.
“The victim passed away in 2000 from cancer, but DNA collected at the time of the assault was connected to Shores last year following his ,” Denver prosecutors said in a news release.
Shores arrest came as part of Denver’s Cold Case Project, officials say.
