U.S. 6 will be closed late Saturday into early Sunday in Denver as crews construct and install a new pedestrian bridge over the highway.

The closure will last between 10 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sunday between Federal and Sheridan boulevards.

The bridge will connect Barnum North and Barnum South parks and cross between Federal and Knox Court, the Colorado Department of Transportation says.

CDOT says it hopes to have the new pedestrian bridge open to the public in July.

The project is part of CDOT’s $98 million slated to replace six obsolete bridges over the highway and improve traffic flow. The highway has seen frequent closures as of late as officials work towards substantial project completion set for the coming fall.
