Four new Colorado health center sites have been awarded a total of $2.3 million in federal grants in Affordable Care Act funds.

The recipients are La Clinica Tepeyac in Denver, Metro Community Provider Network in Englewood, Peak Vista Community Health Centers in Colorado Springs and Plan De Salud Del Valle in Fort Lupton.

Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Burwell announced the grants Tuesday. The new sites “are projected to increase access to health care services for 19,143 patients,” her department estimated in a news release.

Nationally, $169 million in Affordable Care Act funds will go to 266 new health center sites in 46 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, increasing health care access for more than 1.2 million patients, the department estimates.

The awards were announced to coincide with National Health Center Week, honoring centers that have provided primary medical care in rural and impoverished areas for 50 years.

Two other Colorado clinics and a mental health center, in Grand Junction, Frisco and Durango, were awarded a total of $2 million in May.
