
1 Friend’s fault. In the early morning of Sept. 7, Edgewater police pulled over the driver of a scooter for driving without lights in the 5500 block of West 17th Avenue. The man admitted he had drugs on him, but claimed the drugs, the pants he was wearing and the vehicle all belonged to a friend. He was arrested for drug possession.
2 Man frightens customers, brawls with cops. A man with tattoos on his face began making shooting gestures at people outside the 7-Eleven at 1110 S. Pierce St. in Lakewood on Sept. 10 after a clerk caught him attempting to shoplift bottled water. Sections of a nearby road had to be closed after the man walked into oncoming traffic before brawling with police. He was arrested on three charges.
3 Bicyclist struck in Edgewater. On Sept. 10, a 32-year-old Lakewood woman failed to yield while making a left turn at West 26th Avenue and Harlan Street and crashed into a 26-year-old Wheat Ridge woman who was riding her bicycle in the bicycle lane. The bicyclist was transported to the hospital with multiple injuries, and the driver, who had been talking on her cellphone at the time, was cited for careless driving.
4 John ripped off, ticketed. A man reported to police from the Arc Thrift Store at 6791 W. Colfax Ave. in Lakewood on Sept. 11 that he gave $50 for sex to a woman who promptly ripped him off. He was ticketed.
5 Shoplifter nabbed. Police arrested a man Sept. 9 for shoplifting and assault after he tried to leave Home Depot at 7200 W. Colfax Ave. in Lakewood with a package of staples and wiring valued at $193 before wrestling with store security.
