Friday-Saturday. Stand-up comic, actor and liberal activist Janeane Garofalo is a long way from her days as the moody, curmudgeonly cool-girl in ’90s fare such as “The Ben Stiller Show,” “Reality Bites” and various sitcoms. But her influence looms large in modern stand-up, with its self-conscious, exploratory tone and raw personal subject matter. Seen most recently in Netflix’s “Wet Hot American Summer” sequel “First Day of Camp,” Garofalo stops by Comedy Works downtown this weekend for a quartet of shows — all of which but one (the 9:45 p.m. set Jan. 8) are sold out as of press time. 1226 15th St. Tickets: $25, .
