Thursday. Denver jazz singer Dianne Reeves always comes up with new ways for hometowners to experience her five-time Grammy winning voice. This time, she brings it in the form of a trio, joining Billy Childs and Becca Stevens for a rare event at the Newman Center. Childs, a pianist and composer (and three-time Grammy guy himself) has created new arrangements of music written by the late pop singer Laura Nyro. The concert doubles as a send-off for retiring Newman director Stephen Seifert, who spent the past decade making Denver a more interesting place to live and play. 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 2344 E. Iliff Ave. or 303-871-7720.
