Selling STEM topics (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to kids can be tough. But STEM School & Academy is hoping that its first STEM Con — which combines education with comic-book superhero fun — will sweeten the deal. The event mixes appearances from comic book artists such as Stan Yan, Kitty Krell and Monte Moore with a cosplay competition, drone demonstrations and wares from student entrepreneurs and professional vendors, including food, laser-cut fan jewelry and original art. Douglas County Public Libraries, The Tattered Cover and best-selling author Lisa Tawn Bergen also will take part. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 7, 8773 S. Ridgeline Blvd. in Highlands Ranch. $6. .
