, a pioneer of Denver’s restaurant scene who opened the award-winning Zenith American Grill in 1987, continues to pop out new concepts.

In March 2017, he and his son, Ryan Taylor, will open Hickory & Ash in Broomfield, featuring craft cocktails and local beers, and dishes prepared on a wood-fired grill.

It will serve lunch, dinner and brunch.

Ryan Taylor, who started cooking at age 15, will be partner and executive chef, bringing the experience he gained at in San Sebastian, Spain, plus what he has learned from working at his father’s restaurants.

He now is executive chef at Kevin Taylor’s at the Opera House.

The new space, designed by Kevin Taylor and architect Riddick Semple to emphasize rustic decor, will have 120 seats, two private dining rooms and an outdoor patio that will seat 60.

Hickory & Ash will be located in Arista, the 200-acre transit-oriented development in Broomfield. It includes , an , and town center with restaurants, shops and neighborhood parks.
