Saturday. Wait: an entire festival dedicated to lavender? Believe it. Denver Botanic Gardens will honor the fragrant, oft-underappreciated but ubiquitous plant against a literal backdrop of more than 800 plants (installed in 2015) for a family-friendly fête with live music, crafts, food, drinks, hayrides, lavender classes and more. Lavender products made by local growers and artisans will be available for purchase, as will tickets for the hayrides, face painting and barrel train. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. July 16 at Chatfield Farms, 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Road in Littleton. Free admission. Registration encouraged for classes on growing, soap-making, cooking and medicinal oils. .
