Re: Aug. 12 news story.

Whatever Donald Trump’s excuse is to avoid his clear slanderous falsehood that President Obama founded the Islamic State, it wasn’t “sarcasm.” Dictionaries define sarcasm as “a way of using words that say the opposite of what one means, in order to mock them.”  Had Trump’s words really been sarcasm, he would have been mocking the president for failing to found ISIS.  Real sarcasm would occur if Hillary Clinton said, “Donald Trump is a genius.”  My major regret is that the news media have repeated Trump’s claim without pointing out that Trump doesn’t even know the meaning of his false excuse.
