Good morning! Did you know you only have two more Mondays (and Hanukkah, which starts on Dec. 24 this year)? I don’t think that means anything, really, but it’s a good way to mark how quickly the holidays are approaching.

In today’s Eric’s Favorite Things segment, I want you to do some math. For about $10 at Target or a grocery store, you can get 60-70 dog waste bags. For $14.79 on Amazon, . Read that again, it’s not a typo. According to my order history, , and I still have 180 bags left! Bonus: They’re actually good bags (but note that I can’t find anything about their compost-ability, so you might skip them if you compost).

OK, let’s move on to something that smells a little better (but not much): the news!

The Rundown

+ Today’s Weather: Nice and sunny, .

+ Today’s Editorial: “”

Pipeline blocked

Just a few days after we reported on the (with some ), the Army Corps of Engineers has . The Standing Rock Sioux have declared victory, but .

Fighting to remember Japanese interment

“I think itap important that the younger generation understands what happened so it doesn’t happen again.”

Granada high school teacher John Hopper

The internment of Japanese-Americans in camps around the country during WWII is often talked about in vague, historical terms, but one social studies teacher is using his class to that was once , one of ten internment camps in the country. Kevin Simpson always writes a good story, but of what life in the camps actually looked like.

By The Numbers

12-for-24

That’s the remarkably crappy passing stat from one-time-wunderkind Paxton Lynch in . Mark Kiszla called the “snoozer” of a game .

+ Coincidentally, our Broncos writers launched their (non-scientific) . My short answer is too many games like that one, but they have a lot more thoughtful analysis.

+ Watching a couple of Paxton Lynch passes yesterday I couldn’t help but be reminded of Tim Tebow and .

Quick Hits

+ If you want to know the real cost of fake news, try this one on for size: Inspired by a labyrinthine and about a “ring of pedophiles” operating out of a Washington D.C. hipster pizza joint, a man . And it’s .

+ The husband of Jennifer Laber and father of the two boys who were shot dead last week at a memorial for his family over the weekend.

+ Despite shortages of workers, as it adds another 95,000 residents.

+ The (that was a stretch for an awful pun that I refuse to feel bad about).

+ Welcome to the Jungle, .

+ A lot of Democrats were in town, talking about the future of their party. What boggles my mind is why the answer to the question “?” isn’t just “do both.”

+ The tragedy of the fire at Ghost Shop in Oakland, a hits me hard. I spent a lot my 20s at places like Rhinoceropolis and The Glob in Denver and it just hurts my heart.

+ Colorado’s were decided this weekend, and our preps reporter Kyle Newman took a long, hard look at , from elite athletes electing to play for clubs over school and

+ A Colorado company .

+ We still don’t really know when .

+ Amendment 71 made it a lot harder to amend Colorado’s constitution, ?

Ridiculously good deal: . There is literally no better deal on the internet.

What We’re Reading

+ I never thought I would care to read much about finance law. Then I saw this New York Times piece “,” which reads like a thriller and unravels the extraordinary ways that the rich hide their millions and billions of dollars in shell corporations so that — despite the fact that they earned the money in the United States from Americans — they don’t have to pay taxes on it. Or, in this case, an angry husband .

+ . Politicians and — gulp — journalists, are the least trusted.

+ Remember the “$35 DirecTV Internet streaming deal” from last week? The FCC crunched the numbers and that will squash the next Netflix/Spotify/other cool, innovative service.

+ A 22-year-old baseball player from Japan (currently playing for the incredibly named ““) . Why should you care? Because he’s “The World’s Coolest Baseball Player” and an ace pitcher who can also absolutely crush home runs, .

+ It was 83 years ago that Prohibition was repealed and the New York Times at the time seemed surprised that — despite the fervor that led to liquor trucks being guarded by machine guns — the event was ““

+ It’s already been viewed millions of times, but . Especially when you realize how terrifying kangaroos actually are ().

Trump Digest

+ Donald Trump accepted a call from Taiwanese president Tsai Ing-wen last week. The internet, collectively, lost their minds. Why? Because for the last 40 years, American has cut all ties with Taiwan as a way to appease frenemy/business partner/rival China. Here’s and another about why it might not have come from ignorance of diplomatic tradition, as some have said, but .

+ The Trump administration . And, just because Trump is the first president-elect with a searchable Twitter history, let’s (hint, it’s not pretty).

+ Speaking of the cabinet: Remember back to 2001, when the Bush cabinet was accused of being an out-of-touch “team of millionaires”? That group was worth $250 million, combined. and will be the richest cabinet in American history, by far.

+ A Muslim comedian was seated next to Eric Trump on an international flight and .

+ Reince Priebus, Trump’s chief of staff, tried to stoke the () idea that millions of people illegally voted on Face The Nation over the weekend (not even going to link to that article because it literally is just commenting on non-factual rumor), and CBS learned the hard way why who are not afraid of lying right to your face. Jay Rosen has .

+ Just for fun, (based on what links he tweets).
