Hard alcohol lesson. Two men were issued summonses March 18 for alcohol possession by an underage person and theft for stealing a bottle of mead from Tipsy’s Liquor World, 5869 S Alkire Street, Littleton. Store surveillance showed the crime, and store employees provided a license plate number, which Jeffco deputies tracked  to a residence. There, they found two under-21 males, one of whom confessed and said “I thought it would be fun. I see it on TV all the time. It’s not fun.” He said he felt guilty when he got home and poured the mead down the toilet.

Poor handling. Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received a call March 18 that there was a man holding a shotgun in a vehicle at Home Depot, 1014 El Rancho Road, Evergreen. The caller said the man was pointing the gun, but not at anything specific. Police contacted the man and arrested him for displaying a hunting rifle in a public place. They a gun that shot pellets. The man said he had just purchased it and was attaching its scope, and did not intend to scare people.

Food fight. On March 17, Jeffco deputies reported to the 30000 block of Timothys Trail, Conifer, where the reporting party said his wife threw groceries at him, causing facial bruising. Police did not see any physical evidence of the offense and judged the man to be drunk. There were no charges.

Bicyclists versus truck driver. A cyclist reported March 8 that he and his wife were threatened by a man while they were riding on Shadow Mountain Drive, Conifer. The cyclist said the man drove by them in a pickup truck and honked as he passed. Down the road, the man confronted them about how they were riding, and threatened to assault the man and use his rifle. A Jeffco deputy went to the suspect’s house. The suspect denied the accusations and claimed the cyclists entered his property and threatened him. Citing corroborating evidence from the couple, the deputy issued the man a summons for harassment.
