Denver’s plans for downtown streets this summer call for the first wide-scale repaving since 2003.
Between May and late August, Denver Public Works says about 100 blocks of streets in and near downtown are due for milling and repaving work, to be done in phases.
Last week, crews began work on Cleveland Place and other diagonal grid streets near Colfax Avenue, and this week — barring a rain-out — they will work on Welton Street.
The streets up for repaving generally are in four groups in and near downtown — from Arapahoe Street to the northwest, between Speer Boulevard and Broadway; from Welton Street to the southeast, between Colfax and Broadway; 19th and 20th avenues going east from downtown; and several streets east of Washington Street between 23rd and 26th avenues in the Whittier neighborhood.

Even more repaving work is planned for downtown in 2018, as shown in the map.
This year, Public Works plans to spend $24 million on paving citywide, with 430 lane miles due for pavement replacement.
