A bull described as aggressive toward people and animals was shot and killed Wednesday morning.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office said a deputy “put the bull down” while it was running through private pastures with other animals.

The bull had to be killed “due to the extreme public safety hazard,” the office explained in a Facebook post.

Authorities had been warning residents about the aggressive bull running loose in Penrose since Tuesday, when it jumped its owner’s fence and ran away.
