Brittany Pettersen ends her congressional campaign after Ed Perlmutter’s backtrack

State representative joins state Sen. Dominick Moreno in dropping out of 7th Congressional District contest and endorsing Perlmutter

State Rep. Brittany Pettersen ended her congressional campaign Monday, hours after Ed Perlmutter .

“While I’m disappointed I will not have the opportunity to serve our community in Congress, I know that the people of the 7th (Congressional) District will continue to be well represented by Ed Perlmutter,” she said in a written statement. “I am so proud and humbled by the support of the people across Colorado who believed in me and stepped up to contribute, volunteer and support my campaign.”

Endorsing Perlmutter, the Jefferson County Democrat added: “I look forward to continuing to serve the people of this great state.”

Pettersen was one of four Democrats vying to replace Perlmutter after he joined the Colorado governor’s race. He then and said he was giving up politics, and change his mind.

State Sens. Andy Kerr and Dominick Moreno and Obama administration official Dan Baer also filed for the contest to replace Perlmutter.

and endorsed Perlmutter.
